Pre-Doctoral Fellow Applications

Professor Rebecca Diamond is accepting applications for pre-doctoral research fellows (RFs) to begin in the summer or fall of 2021 to be appointed for two years. The application deadline is November 6th, 2020. Applications submitted after that deadline with my considered on a rolling basis.

The position will entail close collaboration with Professor Diamond on data driven research projects on topic related to urban economics, labor economics, and public policy. For recent examples of Professor Diamond’s work, see the research section of her website. Professor Diamond’s previous research assistants have gone onto Ph.D. programs at Stanford, UC Berkeley (x2), Princeton, MIT, and Columbia.

Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent and should have a strong quantitative background, experience with programing (ideally in statistical programming languages), and a long-term interest in pursuing a Ph.D in economics. A major in economics is not required, but some prior exposure to economics coursework is preferred. Candidates from groups underrepresented in economics are especially encouraged to apply.

Pre-doctoral research fellows will be part of the Graduate School of Business’s research fellows community. This includes weekly research meetings with the other RFs at the school and work space that is co-located with the Stanford GSB PhD Students. RFs are also allowed to take up to one Stanford course per quarter. The fellowship offers tuition, health insurance, and a living stipend ($45,850 in 2020-21)
